Don't let other people get in your head

Don't let people get into your head or someone in your head especially if they are overwhelming you with negativity. The other way around also is, nobody can get into your head unless you let them.

We can be surrounded by good or mean-spirited people but did you know that your mind is sacred. Like I said earlier, you should not let people get into your head. I know it is super hard to do especially when you are caught in the moment or you are dealing with something big. Letting someone, get in your mind is not a good idea especially when they are occupying your brain without any benefits in the end. No comfort in the end. All it gave you is doubt. Let me also add, negativity, pessimism, bleakness and despondency. Those things are not good, and they can cloud your judgment. It affects how you think and makes a decision. We have control as to who we want to occupy our minds.

The power of control is super big to me. Just as big as the power of curiosity. I truly believe that control is within us. When someone says something bad about us, we can ignore it or we can take it and let it marinate in our head. If it is something that you can ignore, go ahead and do it. However, I know there are instances where you have to dish it back to that person. Respect should still be part of the equation, and I encourage everyone to approach that person who is being disrespectful to you. On the other hand, some things you should just ignore and you should not let them get into your head. They do not deserve a spot in your mind.

Overall, our self-doubt can create issues. One of them is fear, we start being afraid of things and thinking we cannot do it. We are not qualified, we are not good enough and other irrational thinking. When you open the gate of your mind and let these negativities find some housing spot in your brain without any rent will cause you to break down. You create stories in your head that are not healthy. Thus, giving you anxiety and depression. I have been a victim of this and I absolutely hate all the cynicism that creeps in my head. The saving graces I have are my friends and family.

A gentle reminder from an article from Alka Dhillon in 2014, "Don't let anyone rent space in your head for FREE."

It is good to be surrounded by people who believe in you and know how to lift you when you are down. These people are the ones who give you the proper tool to remap your brain into possibilities and optimism. My self-doubting brain is robbing me of the opportunity to grow and learn. I have my friends who are redirecting me to the path where I am supposed to be. Yes, I need to be guided even though I exude confidence and braveness at times, I needed that inspiration. They are my sounding board and I appreciate them. We have so much fear already in our head and welcoming another person is not going to be helpful in the bigger picture.

More importantly, it will be easier if you start creating mantras that will help you to tackle the craziness of the day. Stop talking about the people who are bugging you. Nobody can be in your head, if you let them, a very nice reminder from a friend. It is easy to be miserable, but it is worth finding the beauty in the day. One of my mantras is to think of the small wins on your day. It could be an engaging conversation with someone or finish a task at home, despite your busy day. Self-care should be cultivated in our routine. For example, a bath, a meditation session, a walk in the park, reading, watching your favourite show on Netflix (no binge-watching, ok). To me, this screams being in the moment and happiness.
