Two years of doing something you enjoy brought so much amazingness to my life.

This month, this year marks the second year of my blog. I started doing it as a hobby and just a fun outlet when I wanted to do something in my spare time. Then, it became a platform to use my voice to share my story, views, and opinion. Also, my journey in a transformative way. It motivated me to write more and made me engage with the readers. Writing inspired me to look deeper into the meaning of which I am as a person. It continues to be a struggle but every day is a new day I get to live and be thankful for.

When I was conceptualizing my blog and thinking about what to write, it took me a while to come up with topics.Just a background, I just finished graduate school a year before I started the website.I gave myself a break from reading (a lot) and writing (a lot) because the graduate school requires all those two things plus time.I managed to get back into the groove of writing and reading again. However, there are other things I had to consider in terms of the content.I was holding back, in the beginning, to write personal stories. The privacy of my stories was a concern to me. The more I wrote, the more comfortable I got.

Starting a blog was a late endeavour for me because, in reality, blogging started 25 years ago.I thought that why started now there are many blogs out there. Consequently, I realized that yes there are many blogs out there geared towards LGBTQIA, dating, etc. I recognized that my point of view is different from other people.I was having difficulty with the word count at the beginning where I was ending a story at 300-400 words. Then suddenly it increased to 500-600 words. Now, I am comfortable writing 700-1000 words per article. You would have thought that doing graduate school would have made me a prolific writer but, no, they are very different kinds of writing. It was hard to pour out words plus the emotions to an article. But I went for it.

I had some astonishing things happened because of my blog.I had the privilege to be a speaker for two consecutive years for the Pride Culture Conference in UFV. It was life-changing. Being part of the community where inclusivity and awareness are the key focus was also the reason why I started blogging.I shared my story about my break up which helped me do more self-inventory on how I am going to tackle my dating life and relationship per se.I continue cultivating the power of control and curiosity, which is significant nowadays. Also, I found my healing with writing.

There are many things that writing gave me. Honestly, the number one thing for me was the fact that I went for it.I was brave to start it despite being anxious writing certain topics and what I wanted my blog to look like. They were secondary only, the crucial point was how I would like to present myself to the world. How my vulnerability will show up and make that a strength rather than a weakness. It certainly brought me some powers that I never believed I had.

All I can say was I went for it, and I am thrilled with how things are at the moment. Happy Reading and Thank you!
