Summer ramblings

I had no idea that it has been over two months since I posted a blog post. I certainly have a lot of stories to share. Although right now it is all ramblings, confusion, tears and questions.
My summer was major. Well, the first part of it was, especially when I said goodbye to a job that was not the right fit. Let me just say it that way because I am not here to lambast any nor give any shade. I rejoiced in that part. I managed to spend time with my godchildren in Kelowna and they were a gift to me. I got one addition in the roster with a baby boy, what a lucky godmother I am. So writing this, I am looking at my phone, looking at the pictures of the fun I had. Oh, I shouldn't forget that I have met this California man that I had an awesome connection with and there will be more to that in the next post. But hey, this bitch is back on the dating game and I am slaying, am I really? Well, I try.

Let me tell you that Canada's parks are so amazing. Yes, I was being pestered by some people when I was on my road trip but I enjoyed my adventures. Imagine me driving at 2:30 am from Cranbrook to Banff just to catch the sunrise at Moraine Lake. Yes, researching helps and it was true, arrived at 5:20 am in the parking lot and it was 3/4 full. Thankfully, I was able to find a spot with no obstruction to see the sunrise and the majestic Moraine Lake. I got reunited with my Kristine and took me to my very first Calgary Stampede. I got a little anxious there around 5 pm when people started to flock in at the gates and most of them, take note were not wearing a mask. Oh, the chills it gave me, and they were the bad ones. Like "get me out of here" type.

Did I tell you that this summer was the bravest I have been? Yes, mama, bikini season and flaunting my au natural bootie that my Momma gave me and yes, my little titties, too. Who cares. I didn't care, I was wearing one at Red Rock Canyon at Waterton Lakes Park. Can I just say that I will see you next year again, Waterton? At Castle Falls, Myra Falls, Lasqueti Island, and Whistler. Oh, Lasqueti Island, the vibe was different but I enjoyed it. This brown girl with mermaid's hair, strutting like Carrie Bradshaw. It was stunning!

This summer was also a time to see friends and celebrate milestones. Can't top Queenie's golden birthday. I have not seen most of my friends since I moved to Cranbrook. So having the opportunity this summer to see them for a get-together and never-ending parties was just wonderful. Met new friends during my travel nursing stint in Port Alberni, like wow, what an incredible experience. To have weekends off, what a lucky girl I was. Enjoyed my time in Victoria where I was feeling the fish and felt like the entire city is my runway. Long drive and adventure days with Gigie- Port Renfrew, Strathcona Park, Saanichton, Coombs, Tofino, sunset at Parksville.

Also, this summer was a time to enjoy nature and have that alone time. A gruelling but satisfying hike that I did at Garibaldi Park. Camped out for a night and enjoyed the quietness. Swam at Cheakamus Lake and Alta Lake. Imagine not having a shower for 3 days. One huge part of this summer was my accident after my last night shift on my travel nursing contract. I was lucky to be alive, I will reveal more details next time. I am still sore but boy, oh boy, it could have been worse. I am thankful to my friends, really am. So, I am quoting Liz here again, " The universe is either telling you to slow down or the universe is being a dick." I am not sure which is which but let me tell you this, I had many thoughts when I had that accident. I would share one of them, I thought of my family and it scared me that I may not be able to see them again. Although, I struggle with not doing anything and navigating the system. I am learning to be present and to slow down. If this slow-down version is what was being asked of me, I am trying to be obedient.

My summer was fun and I am blessed. However, I truly feel like, I needed to get back into this writing again, my readers are waiting.
